Global Safety Day at United Bulk Terminals Davant
Davant| United Bulk Terminals Davant celebrated Global Safety Day March 21st, 2018. The day's events were held on the terminals front lawn, allowing employees to stop by and participate all throughout the day. Local safety vendors came out and displayed new leading safety technology, handed out PPE(safety glasses and earplugs) and safety brochures. Some of the vendors were educating our employees about heat awareness and how to stay hydrated during the coming hot months we typically witness in the deep south. The fire department was able to stop in and show our employees a fire extinguisher demonstration and allow hands-on activities. While employees were moving from booth to booth they had the opportunity to visit the local health technician to have their blood pressure taken. To wrap up a full day we had HSSE Manager Brandt Luksan give a speech as employees and visitors enjoyed lunch cooked by one of our maintenance planners. We look forward to next years

I wish to go to Disney Land to have fun
After uprooting their life in Nigeria and moving to New Orleans, Louisiana to be closer to the Children’s Hospital, Phillip and his family needed something to lift their spirits and give them the strength they needed to continue this battle that they have all been battling together since 2016. United Bulk Terminals and Make-A-Wish® supporters made it possible to help Phillip: His wish to visit the California Disneyland theme park would come true … and help him forget his illness. United Bulk Terminals hosted its annual Golf Tournament in October 2017 collecting $23,455.00 for Make-A-Wish® Foundation. This amount of money allowed the charity to grant the wishes of 2 terminally ill children, one of them being Phillip.
Four United Bulk Terminals employees attended the party to see him off and announce his final trip itinerary. After meeting Phillip and his family and actually seeing the money we all raised go to this child was moving to say the least. We are honored as a company and as individuals that we were able to send him off to Disneyland and we hope to grant wishes for more children in the years to come.
Huge thanks to everyone that made this happen!
